Xero no Cangote, a Forró group from Pernambuco, has released it's latest album, “No Meio do Mundo”. It is an album of forró sung and played by three young musicians who grew up under the influence of the “manguebeat” scene created by Chico Science, but decided to work with the traditional music of Brasil's northeast: baião, xote, côco, maracatu and ciranda. The three members of Xero no Cangote are: Derico Alves (accordion and voice), Clécio Brito (zabumba and percussion) and Pequeno Melo (triangle and percussion).
They have shared the stage with many other great names of the brazilian forró music scene such as Dominguinhos, Elba Ramlaho, Lenine, João Bosco and Cesária Évora. Thier album includes songs written by Derico; “Nosso Desejo”, “Coroa Real” and “Recife Cultura Central” , as well as other composers from Pernambuco such as Anacleta Cezário (Forró de Caruaru) and Lica (Biu do Pífano).
